From June 14 to 20, Anna Mkrtchyan, Director of the YSU Institute of Pharmacy, and Hayarpi Simonyan, Head of the Chair of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, paid a working visit to the University of Malaga in Spain.
The visit was organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ mobility program for staff and a grant funded by the Higher Education and Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.
During the visit, Mkrtchyan and Simonyan met with students and lecturers of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at the University of Malaga. They gave a detailed presentation on the educational programs, main research areas and development prospects of the YSU Institute of Pharmacy. They also delivered professional lectures presenting current achievements of Armenian scientific thought on the following topics:
"Synthesis and Evaluation of New Salen Complexes as Chiral Catalysts"
"Asymmetric Synthesis of Non-Proteinogenic Amino Acids and Evaluation of Their Biological Properties"
To gain first-hand insight into the partner university's research areas and technical capacities, tours were organized for the Armenian specialists at the teaching and research laboratories of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering.
One of the key outcomes of the visit was the discussion with University of Malaga professors Olga Guerrero and Enrique Rodriguez on opportunities to implement joint scientific projects, as well as other programs of mutual interest.
Such international mobility programs not only expand the experience of YSU researchers, but also set a new benchmark for joint international research in the field of pharmacy.
