Grigor Hayrapetyan, Head of the Chair of Economics and International Economic Relations and Coordinator for International Relations at the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management; Narine Mirzoyan, Associate Professor at the Chair of Management and Business; and Alisa Gevorgyan, a PhD student and lecturer at the faculty, participated in the 65th ERSA Congress, organized by the European Regional Science Association (ERSA) and held in Sofia, Bulgaria, from August 25 to 28.
As part of the grant "Improvement of RA Economic Risk Management Mechanism in the Context of Regional Developments" (25RG-5B128), Grigor Hayrapetyan and Narine Mirzoyan presented their research on "High-Skilled Emigration as a Macroeconomic Risk in the Context of Regional Developments: The Case of Armenia."
Nonna Khachatryan, Associate Professor at the YSU Chair of Management and Business, leads the grant, while its international partner is Doctor of Economics Tomas Ponce Dentino from the University of the Azores, Portugal.
Alisa Gevorgyan, who leads the grant "Digitalization Issues of Economic Relations in the RA" (24AA-5B049), implemented under the "Research Support Program for PhD Students and Young Applicants – 2024," also participated in the congress. She presented the study "Place-Based Research for Sustainable Development Policies: A Global / Local View of World Countries Using Generalized Q Analysis," addressing the potential application of place-based research approaches in the development of sustainable development policies.
Grigor Hayrapetyan also chaired the session "G17-2 Geopolitics, Geo-economics, Conflicts and Security, Spatial Impacts and Regional Responses".
The presentations and academic discussions held during the congress provided an important platform for sharing research findings with the international academic community, exchanging views with leading researchers in the field and gaining new perspectives on research approaches. The participation of YSU Faculty of Economics and Management academic staff in such international scientific events helps expand research collaboration and strengthen the faculty's research capacity and international academic ties.
