On September 9, the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management held the first meeting of its Scientific Council for the 2026-2027 academic year, during which a number of agenda items were discussed and approved.
K. Khachatryan, Chairman of the Scientific Council and Dean of the Faculty, congratulated the council members on the start of the new academic year and wished them productive and fruitful work. He emphasized that joint efforts would help implement both initiatives planned during the previous academic year and new ones.
As a result of the discussion of the first agenda item, nine degree applicants and four part-time PhD students of the faculty were certified. Five degree applicants and three part-time PhD students from the Chair of Management and Business were certified, along with two degree applicants from the Chair of Financial Accounting and two degree applicants and one part-time PhD student from the Chair of Mathematical Modeling in Economics.
The Scientific Council also approved the dissertation topics and academic supervisors of two newly admitted full-time PhD students from the Chair of Management and Business.
In accordance with the requirements of the "Procedure for Awarding Named Scholarships," four faculty students were recommended for named scholarships for the first semester of the 2026-2027 academic year.
The meeting also presented the names of the faculty's top students who had been awarded scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year as part of cooperation with Byblos Bank Armenia.
Under the next agenda item, in accordance with the requirements of the "Procedure for Engaging Assistants for Academic Staff," professors' assistants were assigned to 10 members of the faculty's academic staff. One assistant was assigned to the Chair of Economics and International Economic Relations, eight to the Chair of Management and Business, and one to the Chair of Financial Accounting.
The final agenda item concerned the approval of a revised version of the procedure for evaluating the extracurricular activities of the academic staff of the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management. Dean Khachatryan noted that the procedure had been adopted at Meeting No. 2 of the Scientific Council in the 2023-2024 academic year and is reviewed and improved each academic year in response to needs identified during its implementation.
The Scientific Council unanimously approved the revised procedure.
