Scientific event "Reporting Conference-2025" launched at YSU
The scientific event "Reporting Conference – 2025" commenced at YSU Academic Council Session Hall, once again bringing together the university's scientific potential in a now-traditional format. The conference aims to summarize the scientific activities and future plans of the university's various departments.

The conference will continue on May 12, 13, and 14, providing an opportunity for leading scientists and researchers to present the results of their research studies, activity directions, and visions.

YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, highlighting the importance of organizing such a scientific gathering, stated: "This is the second consecutive year that this conference is being held, providing an excellent opportunity to discuss the work and achievements of YSU research centers, institutes, and laboratories. This year, results of projects implemented as part of internal grants are also being presented, which hold great significance. We are consistently developing our internal grant system with the aim of promoting both the achievement of new scientific results and the qualitative improvement of educational programs."

Hovhannes Hovhannisyan noted that the number of publications by YSU scientists in peer-reviewed international journals has significantly increased over the past year. He expressed hope that this positive trend would continue. In this context, he emphasized that one of the university's academic journals, "Translation Studies: Theory and Practice," has already been indexed in the Scopus database, while several other journals are working toward inclusion in internationally recognized databases. The rector stressed that for several years now, the university has been actively working to enhance the international visibility of its scientific periodicals.
He also touched upon programmatic reforms in internal grants, underscoring the importance of financing in the scientific and educational sectors, ensuring financial stability for young professionals, and addressing priority issues related to investment programs and other key areas.
Rafayel Barkhudaryan, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs at YSU, presented a series of key statistical indicators concerning the university's scientific activities. He addressed the increase in the number of published scientific articles and participation in international programs and grant initiatives. He emphasized that the analysis and monitoring of these quantitative data form a critical foundation for the strategic planning and ongoing development of the university's science policy.

"This positive development is driven by three main factors. The first is the increase in state funding, including both core and grant-based support, as well as investments directed toward acquiring scientific equipment. The second is the diversification of YSU’s funding sources, made possible by financing from various scientific programs. The third is the improvement of science management and the enhancement of its efficiency," noted the vice-rector, while also presenting grant programs funded by the Armenian Higher Education and Science Committee and the corresponding allocated resources.
A number of thematic presentations were delivered by Associate Professor Lusine Hayrapetyan (PhD in Pedagogy) from the Chair of Pedagogy of YSU Pedagogy and Education Development Center, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Dr. Ruben Melkonyan, and Researcher at the YSU Research Institute of Physics, Assistant Henrik Parsamyan (PhD in Physics and Mathematics). The moderator of the conference was Elina Asriyan, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at YSU.

It is important to highlight that the conference offers the opportunity to strengthen and boost the development of various scientific fields, to be well-informed about the scientific research progress of related, interdisciplinary fields, to deepen and expand cooperation between research institutes, centers and faculties in the field of science.
As part of the conference, representatives of YSU’s scientific departments and faculties will also hold seminars and reporting conferences throughout April and May, with the aim of making their work more visible to the public.
During the four-day event, YSU scholars and researchers will continue to present the results of their studies and highlight their current areas of focus.
