With the advancement of AI, human work efficiency will significantly improve - YSU alumni Artavazd Minasyan
The ability to remove background noise during phone calls so that the person on the other end cannot guess your location—this is the innovation of the company Krisp, implemented via a mobile application. However, the company’s research and development efforts do not end there; new ideas are constantly being generated. Artavazd Minasyan, co-founder of Krisp and an alumnus of YSU Faculty of Physics, notes that they are currently working on developing real-time accent conversion technology.

Artavazd Minasyan affirms that with the advancement of AI, human work efficiency will significantly improve.
– Mr. Minasyan, how are new ideas born, and what are the steps leading to their realization?
– Ideas emerge through market research and conversations with customers. These ideas then go through several phases, including internal team discussions and external consultations with investors. A product prototype is developed, followed by a first version that is introduced to the market. Through this process, we identify which products are truly needed by our target audience.
– What specialists are involved in your research group?
– Our professional team includes scientists, web developers, and mobile developers. The company also encompasses all major branches of marketing, such as product quality marketing, branding, and a sales department, among others.
– What scientific innovations are you currently working on?
– At Krisp, we are developing accent conversion technology. For example, converting French-accented English to American English, or Egyptian-accented English to British English. In addition, we are working to enable real-time conversion across all other accents as well.
– What is the pace of development for science-driven innovative companies in Armenia? What challenges must be addressed to stimulate their growth? Are we lacking scientific talent, financial resources, or well-equipped laboratories?
– Armenia’s startup ecosystem has significantly evolved. While a decade ago only one or two companies received venture funding, today that number has grown to several dozen. Currently, around five venture capital funds operate in Armenia, providing essential financing.

In my view, to stimulate the activities of science-driven innovation companies, we must increase funding and bring the academic system closer to industry. This will encourage more talented scientists and researchers to join innovative tech companies.
– Artificial intelligence is, so to speak, taking over the world. Today, there is virtually no field untouched by AI. It has even entered hospitals and operating rooms. Which professions are at risk, and in which sectors is the human factor being minimized?
– AI is going to be applied in almost all industries—from medicine to public administration and software development. However, I don’t believe this transformation will occur overnight. I am inclined to think AI will become an excellent tool that boosts human productivity rather than replacing it.
– With the advancement of AI, as well as the easy accessibility of technology and information, a dual trend has emerged: on the one hand, there are more opportunities for development; on the other, it has become possible to obtain ready-made research without much effort. Will this lead to an increase or decrease in the number of scientists?
– The number of scientists globally will increase, as conducting research has never been easier. Large companies such as OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google are actively working to develop AI that will accelerate global scientific progress. Thanks to this approach, many diseases currently considered incurable may become treatable in the future. Numerous global challenges could be addressed through innovative knowledge, making AI one of the most powerful tools for solving complex problems.
In addition to co-founding Krisp, Artavazd Minasyan, who holds a Ph.D. in physical and mathematical sciences, is also the co-founder of the startup 10Web. Krisp allows both large companies and small teams or individuals to remove background noise during calls, ensuring only clear voice communication, and offers accent conversion, transcription, and more. Meanwhile, 10Web is an AI-powered website-building platform that enables users to create websites without needing deep technical knowledge of web development.
At the first YSU Alumni Forum, Krisp received YSU Alumni Excellence Award in the category of "Space and Technology." Co-founder of Krisp and YSU alumnus Davit Baghdasaryan, upon receiving the award, emphasized that the majority of their team members are also YSU alumni.
