YSU STEM High School to welcome the new academic year: Schedule published
YSU STEM High School warmly awaits its students to begin an exciting and enriching new academic year together. On September 1st, the school will be filled with warm greetings, joyful conversations, and a lively atmosphere, where every student will feel like a valued member of a close-knit community and receive the support they need to succeed.

On September 1 at 9:00 a.m., YSU STEM High School will welcome the new students of the 2025–2026 academic year in the school courtyard, along with their parents and students from other grades.
This special gathering aims to foster a warm and inclusive environment among students, uniting different generations of the school community around common goals and shared interests.
During the welcome ceremony dedicated to the start of the academic year, the school’s director, Aram Khachatryan, will deliver an opening speech, highlighting the importance of STEM education, the expectations for the new academic year, and the school’s development path. Following the official welcome, a guided tour will be organized for 10th-grade students, introducing them to the school’s facilities, classrooms, laboratories, and infrastructure. This orientation will help new students better navigate their surroundings and seamlessly integrate into the school community.
After the tour, various social and team-building activities and games will take place, designed to support students’ integration, encourage interaction, and help establish new friendships. Upon conclusion of these activities, regular classes will officially begin.
It is worth noting that, as a result of a two-stage admission competition, 63 applicants were accepted to YSU STEM High School for the 2025–2026 academic year, out of approximately 150 candidates. In comparison, the previous year saw around 90 applicants, of whom 39 were admitted. These statistics reflect the growing interest and trust in the institution.
"The increase in applications is a result of both our school's consistent efforts and its tangible achievements," says Aram Khachatryan.
"In addition to the university's strong reputation, the STEM school has demonstrated unwavering dedication and success. Throughout the year, numerous parents visited the school, expressed interest in the educational programs we offer, and learned about the opportunities available. We’ve held many meetings during which they learned about the wide range of possibilities provided by both the school and the university. Our students have nearly the same access to YSU's infrastructure as university students do. This is a significant advantage for their education and personal development."
Director Aram Khachatryan also emphasized that the 10th-grade students will be welcomed into newly renovated and fully furnished classrooms, ensuring a comfortable and effective learning environment.
It is important to highlight that four students from the STEM High School, having successfully passed the initial two rounds of the 5th International Applied Biology Olympiad (IABO), participated in the final stage and were awarded silver and bronze medals. As a result of their performance, they were granted admission to their chosen state universities without having to take the entrance examinations.
