YSU holds informational meeting for newly joined lecturers
An informational meeting was held in YSU Academic Council Session Hall with lecturers who are either newly joining the university’s academic community or returning after a period of absence. The meeting aimed to familiarize them with the university's opportunities, as well as to introduce the digital platforms and tools used in the teaching process.

YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, welcoming the attendees and emphasizing the importance of their unity around the university’s educational mission, highlighted that YSU is always open to new ideas, knowledge, and methods of experience exchange. He presented the university’s academic and administrative structures, the fundamental operational processes, as well as the wide-ranging opportunities for professional collaboration both within the university and at the local and international levels.

"In light of the recent changes to many of the university’s regulations—from the management mechanisms of electronic platforms to the organization of general processes—we decided to hold a meeting with newly joined lecturers to ensure they gain a comprehensive understanding of the ongoing changes and integrate more quickly into the university environment," noted the rector.
He elaborated on the various opportunities available at the university aimed at supporting the professional development and well-being of the academic staff. In particular, he presented programs that support the publication of scientific articles, available grant opportunities, access to electronic resources, as well as travel grants provided by the YSU Scientific Organizational Council for participation in international conferences and training programs.
The rector also addressed YSU’s internal grant programs, opportunities for academic and international mobility, and the array of incentive and financial support mechanisms, including the provision of bonuses. He further stressed the importance of social security for faculty members, noting that the university offers healthcare insurance to ensure timely and effective solutions to health-related issues.
Discussing financial policy and recent legislative changes, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan emphasized a significant provision included in the newly adopted Law on Higher Education and Science, according to which universities should receive basic funding to support their educational activities.
"We are hopeful that once this provision takes effect, the university will be able to secure certain financial resources, which will be directed toward increasing faculty salaries. In recent years, YSU has already raised salaries three times, each by 10%. In addition, the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports regularly initiates grant programs, which open up new scientific and academic opportunities for YSU faculty members," stated the rector.
Subsequently, Armen Sargsyan, Head of the YSU Educational-Methodological Department, and Artur Avagyan, Director of the Information Technologies Educational and Research Center, introduced faculty members to the university's electronic platforms—namely, Email, Registrar, and Moodle systems—as well as internal tools designed to support faculty workflow. They presented the methodology for using these platforms, updated functionalities, and innovative assessment approaches.

During the meeting, faculty members also had the opportunity to address their questions to representatives of the university's administrative and technical teams.
Tatev Akhanyan, a journalist from Armenian First Channel and producer of the program "Wait for Me", will also begin teaching at Yerevan State University for the first time this year.
"I will be teaching the 'Journalism' course and aim to share the kind of knowledge that I personally did not receive during my university years, but always wished I had. My goal is to provide students with a practical experience where they can apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios, learn how to work in teams, write professionally, and overall, to teach them everything I know," emphasized Tatev Akhanyan, adding that she will carry the title of YSU lecturer with honor, pride, and a deep sense of responsibility.
