Meeting with YSU students awarded scholarships by Kenn Kakosian Scholarship Fund
A meeting was held in the office of Yerevan State University’s rector with students who were awarded scholarships by Kenn Kakosian Scholarship Fund. During the meeting, the students — including both undergraduate and graduate students — presented their initiatives and ongoing projects.

Kenn Kakosian Family Scholarship Fund, established through the initiative of philanthropist Kenn Kakosian, provides scholarships to students from the provinces of Armenia studying at Yerevan State University, the American University of Armenia, and the Armenian National Agrarian University. The scholarship fully covers tuition fees for high-achieving students who are actively involved in their communities. The aim of this initiative is to ensure the continued engagement of youth in the development of their communities.
Head of YSU International Cooperation Office Alexander Markarov, speaking about the importance of the scholarship, noted that thanks to the knowledge and skills acquired at the university, the students initiate projects in provinces, contributing to the improvement of community solidarity and the proper execution of local initiatives.
"For the third consecutive year, our students have the opportunity to receive full tuition reimbursement through Kenn Kakosian Family Scholarship Fund. This year, more than 31 applicants submitted for consideration, although the final scholarship recipients have not yet been selected," he emphasized.
In total, over the past two years, 14 students have been awarded the scholarship. Several of them were present at the meeting and presented updates on their ongoing projects.
Margarita Abrahamyan, a bachelor’s student from YSU Faculty of Sociology, shared the successes of her project.
"In the village of Aknalich, in Armenia’s Armavir Province, we are working to provide inclusive activities for children with special educational needs, and we have already achieved significant results. For instance, we are helping one of the children publish their poetry," she said.
Arman Kakosyan, a master’s student from YSU Faculty of Law, stated that he has founded a student council in his hometown, Aparan. As part of this initiative, the council submitted a proposal to the mayor suggesting the provision of a student bus for those studying at universities located in Yerevan. The proposal was approved, and more than 90 students now benefit from free transportation.
Manuk Abgaryan, a student from YSU Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, spoke about his project, highlighting the establishment of the "Araratyan" group through his initiative. Within this group, he teaches mathematics to high school students free of charge, with the goal of helping them prepare for their final and entrance exams.
By presenting how their education and research projects will contribute to the improvement and prosperity of community life, scholarship applicants are given the opportunity to implement their proposed capacity-building programs in the future.
