The Biomedical Screening Group focuses on:
- Studying the mechanisms of antibiotic resistance formation in certain conditional pathogenic bacteria and investigating the effects of various generations of antibiotics on them.
- Isolation and analysis of biologically active substances—including essential oils, flavonoids, saponins, and glycosides—from certain medicinal plants grown in Armenia, and investigating some of their biological properties.
- Studying the combined antibacterial properties of essential oils and other biologically active substances isolated from these plants with antibiotics, and examining their effects on key metabolic enzymes.
- Investigating certain biological properties of enantiomerically enriched non-proteinogenic amino acids and peptides synthesized by the Asymmetric Synthesis Group.
