The YSU Student Scientific Society (SSS) held an extended session for the second semester of the 2025-2026 academic year, presenting the first silver and commemorative medals for the first time in the society's history. Faculty SSS units with the best results received certificates of honour, while active members of the society, secretaries and committee heads received certificates of appreciation.

The commemorative and silver medals are the first of their kind in the history of the YSU Student Scientific Society, which has operated since 1947. This year, the SSS Scientific Council recognized members who contributed to the society's development with high distinction.
The medals were awarded to individuals who had chaired SSS committees in different years. Their nominations had been discussed and approved by members of the SSS Scientific Council at an off-site meeting held at the beginning of the semester.

The award recipients were Marine Mkrtchyan, Chair of the Information Committee; Karen Ghazaryan, Chair of the General Affairs Committee; Marine Margaryan, Chair for Russian of the Translation Affairs Committee; and Farida Khachatryan, Chair for English of the same committee.
"Although I am no longer a student, I still remember my university years with great warmth, and for that I am especially grateful to the Student Scientific Society. It is no coincidence that even today, when I speak about the university, the first things I remember are my friends from the SSS and the memories I made within the society. I am grateful for this beautiful yet, at the same time, responsibility-bearing award," Marine Margaryan, Chair for Russian of the Translation Affairs Committee, said, joining the expressions of gratitude from fellow SSS members.
The first commemorative medals of the Student Scientific Society were awarded to SSS Vice-President Davit Sargsyan; Secretary Karine Kamalyan; Irina Mehrabyan, Chair of the External Relations Committee; Marine Mkrtchyan, Chair of the Information Committee; Yuri Baluyan, Chair of the General Affairs Committee; Farida Khachatryan, Chair for English of the Translation Affairs Committee; and Karapet Tadevosyan, Chair for Russian of the same committee. Narek Avetyan, former Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, also received an SSS commemorative medal.
Commemorative medals were also presented to Nare Darbinyan, Chair of the SSS at the Faculty of Biology; Susan Gevorgyan, Chair of the SSS at the Institute of Physics; as well as former chairs of faculty SSS units: Anahit Jilikyan of the Faculty of Chemistry, Elen Asatryan of the Faculty of Law, Karine Arakelyan of the Faculty of International Relations, Anahit Svazyan of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Syuzanna Danielyan of the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology, and Hratsin Hovakimyan of the Faculty of Sociology.
The SSS President received a certificate of honour for an exceptional contribution to the society's development and for extensive and outstanding work.
"I am proud of the united team we have built together. I am particularly pleased that each of us celebrates the successes achieved across different faculties and inspires one another to do more. This shows and confirms that there is healthy competition within the society," the SSS president emphasized.
From now on, certificates of honour will also be awarded to faculty SSS units that demonstrate active work throughout the semester. Accordingly, this year the SSS units of the YSU Faculty of International Relations and the Institute of Physics ranked first. They were followed in the assessment of outstanding performance by the faculties of Geography and Geology, Philosophy and Psychology, History, Law, Journalism and Biology.
The SSS is also set to implement larger-scale projects in the near future, including SocCamp, Psychological Camp and the SSS Summer School. As part of the latter, the society's international partners from London, Cyprus, Moldova, Russia and other countries will travel to Yerevan.
