A jubilee event dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Professor Edik Minasyan, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Head of the Chair of Armenian History at the Faculty of History, was held at the faculty. The ceremony highlighted the historian's many years of academic and pedagogical service, as well as the significance of his extensive scholarly legacy.
Professor Edik Minasyan's academic and pedagogical career has been closely associated with Yerevan State University, where he was trained and established as a historian and researcher. Over the decades, he has taught various historical disciplines and supervised numerous doctoral and research projects, making a substantial contribution to the professional development of young historians.
The YSU professor has made a significant contribution to the study of the contemporary history of the Republic of Armenia, socio-political processes, and the Armenian Question. His scholarly interests encompass the history of national liberation movements, political history, and the development of social thought. The historian's works are distinguished by their rich source base, analytical approach, and in-depth interpretation of contemporary issues.
Dean of the YSU Faculty of History, Mkhitar Gabrielyan, reflected on Professor Minasyan's professional activity, emphasizing his role in the advancement of the faculty.
YSU Vice-Rector Mikayel Hovhannisyan, congratulating the jubilee celebrant, highly praised his decades-long dedication to the university. In recognition of his academic and pedagogical achievements, the vice-rector presented Edik Minasyan with a certificate of appreciation and noted that it stands as further acknowledgment of the professor's extensive work and significant contribution to university life.
For his longstanding contributions to Armenian studies, Professor Edik Minasyan was awarded the Movses Khorenatsi commemorative medal by the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
The YSU Faculty of History presented the jubilee celebrant with a YSU commemorative watch as a token of gratitude to the distinguished university scholar.
The event also featured presentations on the professor's contributions to the study of modern Armenian history, Diaspora studies, and the history of Armenian women's heroic struggle, summarizing his many years of scholarly activity. The speakers highly appreciated the academic value of Edik Minasyan's works and their importance in addressing contemporary issues in historiography.
