Delegation from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg visits YSU to strengthen educational cooperation
A delegation from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, led by Rector Claudia Becker, visited Yerevan State University with the aim of enhancing Armenian-German relations in the field of higher education. During the visit, the delegation members met with YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, vice rectors, administrative staff, and faculty members. The discussions focused on promoting educational cooperation between the two countries, exploring opportunities for new academic and exchange programs.
Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, one of Germany’s leading educational institutions, actively collaborates with numerous international universities through student and faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, and the organization of international conferences. Today, Yerevan State University hosted a delegation from this university, comprising the rector and professors, to discuss opportunities for Armenian-German educational and scientific cooperation and to develop new joint programs.
Primary Objective: Strengthening Cooperation
During the meeting, the parties signed an agreement on scientific and cultural cooperation, affirming their commitment to establishing collaborative ties in scientific research, education, and cultural activities.
The cooperation will be implemented in the following areas: planning and conducting research projects, exchange programs for lecturers, researchers, and students (including internships and summer courses), as well as organizing joint scientific conferences and cultural events.
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, speaking about the importance of the cooperation, emphasized that the partnership formed with Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is a significant step in strengthening Armenian-German educational and scientific relations. He noted that this visit creates opportunities for experience exchange and the development of joint programs, which will contribute to the improvement of the quality of higher education. He spoke about exchange programs that allow students and academic staff to gain international experience and enrich their knowledge base. Hovhannes Hovhannisyan highlighted that such programs promote the strengthening of ties between higher education institutions of both countries and support the implementation of innovative joint research.
"I hope that the cooperation will become even more effective for both institutions in the future," Hovhannes Hovhannisyan remarked, providing information about YSU’s collaborations, accredited educational programs, teaching methodologies, as well as potential changes in the field of education.
Claudia Becker presented the educational programs at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, emphasizing international cooperation as a cornerstone for the development of higher education. She particularly stressed the exchange opportunities for students and academic staff, as well as joint research projects that promote knowledge exchange, innovative thinking, and the strengthening of relations in scientific sector.
During the meeting, the parties also addressed the expansion of Armenian-German interuniversity cooperation and further collaboration in education and science.
Future Programs and Prospects
The agreements reached during the visit will serve as a foundation for launching new programs and projects. There is mutual interest in creating active and multifaceted collaborative platforms that will breathe new life into scientific and educational cooperation.
The meeting continued in YSU Academic Council Session Hall, where members of the delegation met with YSU lecturers and researchers to discuss areas of mutual interest and potential directions for cooperation.
