YSU hosts meeting with students awarded Byblos Bank Armenia scholarships
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan and Byblos Bank Armenia CEO Hayk Stepanyan met with the recipients of the scholarship program for the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 academic years. The ongoing cooperation between Yerevan State University and Byblos Bank Armenia aims to promote educational development, support students, and contribute to their professional growth.
The meeting was dedicated to the annual scholarship program jointly organized by YSU and Byblos Bank Armenia. Among the attendees were YSU Vice-Rector for Development and Innovation Mikayel Hovhannisyan, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management Karlen Khachatryan, and Director of the Alumni and Career Center Astghik Mnatsakanyan.
For the 2025–2026 academic year, five second-, third-, and fourth-year bachelor's students from the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management were awarded nominal scholarships of 1,000,000 AMD each.
Each year, scholarships are granted based on academic excellence, active participation in university and social activities, engagement in volunteer work, and involvement in scientific events and research projects.
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan emphasized that the scholarships are more than financial assistance—they represent a meaningful investment in the future of the nation. It will significantly help students overcome the challenges and obstacles they face.
"Such scholarships are not only an encouragement for students but also a responsibility to apply their knowledge and skills for the development of both their beloved university and country. This model of university-business cooperation is a prime example of how joint efforts can foster youth development and strengthen education," he said.
The rector also highlighted that YSU's true strength lies in its students and graduates, noting that Hayk Stepanyan himself is a striking example of YSU's best graduates.
Addressing the program's goals, Byblos Bank Armenia CEO Hayk Stepanyan said, "The main idea of the program is to inspire students and support them on their path to professional success."
The meeting featured an engaging discussion with students on topics related to education, science, and employment opportunities. Hayk Stepanyan also expressed willingness to host a familiarization visit for the scholarship recipients at the bank.
This marks the third consecutive year that Byblos Bank Armenia has awarded scholarships to YSU students. The scholarship program was launched in 2023 following the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the university and the bank. Since the launch of the program, 25 YSU students have received nominal scholarships or tuition reimbursement.
