YSU awards winners of "Best Student" competition
The Rector of Yerevan State University, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, presented bronze medals to the YSU winners of the 2025 nationwide competition for named scholarships awarded to the highest-achieving students of Armenia's higher professional education institutions ("Best Student"). The awardees were Sona Sargsyan, a fourth-year student in the "Biochemistry and Biotechnology" bachelor's program at the YSU Faculty of Biology (first place), and Ani Tadevosyan, a second-year student in the "Armenian Literature" master's program at the Faculty of Armenian Philology (second place).
Emphasizing the significance of such academic achievements, YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan congratulated the students, noting that these accomplishments will pave the way for their future integration into YSU's community of scholars.
"It is extremely gratifying to record the successes of YSU students, which attest to the continuous modernization of educational programs and the academic environment, as well as the effectiveness of various initiatives implemented at the university," the rector said.
The Vice-Rector for International Relations, Development and Innovation, Mikayel Hovhannisyan, also congratulated the students and expressed hope that next year the competition will be conducted under revised regulations, fostering greater interest and broader engagement among students.
"Our students participate in this competition every year and always achieve top places, which is only natural. YSU students always uphold the university's honor," the vice-rector noted.
The Dean of the Faculty of Armenian Philology, Arshaluys Galstyan, underscored the importance of the achievement, stating, "This is indeed a gratifying fact. It is also inspiring that our students will join the ranks of young scholars. In Ani's case, I can confidently say that she is an exceptionally diligent and goal-oriented student with outstanding academic performance. I hope she will continue her work with the same determination."
The Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Karen Ghazaryan, likewise highlighted the significant role of such students in the university community, stating, "Sona is truly a promising student. If she decides to continue her selected path, she will achieve considerable success. She is involved in various grant-funded programs and, during her master's studies, will have the opportunity to work as a senior laboratory assistant."
Ani Tadevosyan emphasized, "This is a great honor for me. Although many have said it before, I will gladly repeat that our alma mater is truly a value. During my years of study, it has provided me with knowledge and professional connections and has been an irreplaceable space for self-development."
Sona Sargsyan added, "The university has taught us to perceive, comprehend, and teach. These skills will prove invaluable to us in all spheres of life."
