YSU master’s student participates in one of the world’s largest conferences When a young scientist gets the opportunity to participate in one of the world’s largest conferences, it is not only a personal achievement but also a significant accomplishment for the scientific community of the university. Gor Chalayan, a second-year master's student at YSU Institute of Physics and an engineer at the Research Laboratory of Optoelectronics and Photonics, is the first master’s student from Armenia to participate in such a conference.

For the first time in Armenia, the newly introduced Mobility Window program provides students with the opportunity to move beyond the conventional boundaries of education by selecting courses from related academic programs that align with their interests.
YSU researchers explore the potential of yeast-based targeted substance production Senior Laboratory Assistant Liana Anikyan from the Faculty of Biology and Director of the Research Institute of Biology Karen Trchounian are studying the environmental conditions that enable the optimal growth and reproduction of Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast. This research aims to identify the optimal conditions for yeast cultivation, which could contribute to increasing the production of targeted substances, such as bioethanol—an alternative to fossil fuels. YSU acquired strains of S. cerevisiae several years ago, and their study is currently being conducted at the Research Institute of Biology.
Broader outlook through studying abroad: YSU students on unique aspects of YSU and University of Lille Students from YSU Faculty of Geography and Geology continued their professional studies at the University of Lille (France) under the Erasmus+ program, expanding their knowledge in geology. They shared their motivations for studying abroad, and reflected on the differences in the organization of education and student-professor relationships at YSU and the University of Lille.

Modernized setting for high-quality education ensuring inclusive education, safe environment, and auditoriums with practical solutions At Yerevan State University, alongside aligning educational programs with modern demands and ensuring students are better positioned in the labor market, efforts are also underway to modernize building facilities and improve infrastructure with practical solutions. Inclusive education, a safe environment, laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and newly renovated and furnished auditoriums—much of this work has already been completed, and large-scale projects lie ahead.

Research team wins competition for proposing innovative approaches to polylactic acid production A research team’s interdisciplinary project has been recognized as the best, winning first place in the interdisciplinary projects competition held as part of the Armenian scientific community’s Annual Review Conference 2024. The project titled "Production of Polylactic Acid from Lactic Acid: From Enhancing Production Efficiency to Laser Processing" aims to improve the efficiency of polylactic acid production while expanding its scope of application.
