Memorandum of cooperation aimed at promoting academic exchanges
The Georgia branch of the Max Weber Foundation and Yerevan State University have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening scientific collaboration and creating new opportunities for academic exchange. To this end, the parties have signed a memorandum of cooperation that will lay the foundation for future projects and long-term initiatives.
The memorandum aims to promote joint research and educational initiatives in areas of mutual interest, engaging both scholars and students. Within the framework of this memorandum of cooperation, the parties plan to boost expertise exchanges between historians and archivists through lectures, conferences, seminars, symposiums, and other academic events. The institutions will also combine their informational resources by sharing relevant publications and materials in fields of shared interest.
Speaking about the memorandums and collaborations established with various institutions, YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan noted that YSU cooperates with different countries and academic institutions both for the exchange of students and lecturers within the framework of the Erasmus+ program, as well as for the implementation of individual research and educational projects.
"These partnerships contribute to expanding the international experience of both our lecturers and students, and they create opportunities to advance cooperation in the fields of history and regional studies. This, in turn, will support the development of new projects, the strengthening of scientific ties, and the long-term growth of research activities," the rector said.
Moritz Florin, Deputy Director of the Max Weber Network Eastern Europe and Head of the Foundation's Georgia Branch, emphasized, "As you know, we are a branch in Tbilisi and are highly interested in cooperating with universities in Armenia. With plans to expand our partnership network, we also intend to organize events in Armenia. Collaboration with partner institutions is important to us, and I believe this is an excellent opportunity to advance the study of regional history."
Highlighting the significance of the memorandum, Moritz Florin noted that it provides academic institutions with the opportunity to establish stable and effective cooperation, promote exchanges of scholars and students, and support the implementation of joint research and educational initiatives.
Also present at the meeting were YSU Vice-Rector for Development and Innovation Mikayel Hovhannisyan, Head of the YSU International Cooperation Office Alexander Margarov, and Director of the YSU Continuing Education Center, Lusine Kharatyan.
The Max Weber Foundation regularly announces grant competitions for participation in conferences, workshops, and study visits in Germany. These programs offer Armenian and international scholars the opportunity to receive financial support for the implementation of their research and academic projects.
