Opportunities, knowledge, experience: YSU student Ruzanna Sargsyan on studying in Germany Ruzanna Sargsyan, a third-year student in the "English, German, and Communication" program at YSU Faculty of European Languages and Communication, returned from the University of Greifswald (Germany) one month ago, where she studied for one semester. During that period, one of her main goals was to improve her German language skills, as well as to pass on accurate information about Armenia and Armenian culture to foreign students.
Analysis of Iran’s political strategy at the core of YSU Iranologists’ research The political strategy of Armenia’s southern neighbor, Iran, and its impact on the South Caucasus have long been a subject of interest for regional researchers. A research team led by Liana Petrosyan, PhD in History, Assistant Professor at YSU Faculty of Oriental Studies, is currently conducting a scientific study on this topic. The project aims to examine the influence of Iran’s political developments on regional dynamics.
YSU researcher identifies biodiversity loss in several Armenian rivers and proposes solutions for ecosystem restoration The impact of mining, domestic wastewater, and the improper management of water resources have led to the pollution of the Akhtala, Kavart, Karchevan, and Getar rivers, resulting in the complete loss of aquatic biodiversity in these rivers. This issue has been documented by Liana Margaryan, Senior Researcher at Yerevan State University, who, along with her research team, has studied the water-chemical regimes and ecological conditions of more than 30 rivers across the country. Currently, the researcher’s work focuses on the self-purification capacity of rivers in Armenia and the impact of anthropogenic pressures on this ability. The research aims to propose scientifically grounded solutions for the restoration of ecosystems damaged by human activity in these rivers.

Using bee royal jelly to protect living organisms from environmental stressors Research conducted at the Chair of Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Biotechnology of Yerevan State University has demonstrated that bee royal jelly has a positive effect on the normal growth of yeast exposed to environmental stressors, such as radiation. Associate Professor Seda Marutyan emphasizes that by understanding how bee royal jelly affects irradiated yeast, it will be possible to propose a specific dosage or develop a medication based on royal jelly for the treatment of irradiated humans and animals.
